guilt

I felt so guilty that I didn't post a layout yesterday that I got up early (3:45 to be exact) to finish up some layouts. These are old ones that have been sitting on my desk, gathering dust...probably about half way done. This was a good excuse to finish them up. Unfortunately, I can tell I was up very early when I realized on the one layout that I meant to write "one of my favorite..." instead of the "some of my favorite..." AAACK! I hate messing up the journaling. Anyway...I'm off to the gym. Hope you have a great day!

oh my goodness...

man...it's hard coming up with these pages everyday. I'm working on them every chance I get and it's been hard this week. I was off a few days last week between the holiday and being sick so this challenge seemed like one I could take on. You guys aren't going to hold it against me if I can't keep up though...right?

Already laying out the pics and such for tomorrow. Wish me luck;)

Day 6

Day 6 layout. Back to a pattern again. LOL. Oh yeah...excuse the lazy scan job...I usually try to scan them without lines through the photos but I'm tired tonight:P

I'm going to hold off on posting my 365 photos for a few days that way I can do a post about them ala Jessica Fulkerson;)

We got out and were able to take a nice walk down to the new Trader Joes (YES!) in downtown Monterey before it started raining again. It's been a really nice relaxing weekend.

Oh yeah, these are the first pages to the project I'm doing at Sara's site. I plan on filling in the title page with more words but at the moment I'm striving for happiness. The second page was her prompt. There is journaling that goes with it but that I am keeping to myself.  The only thing I didn't get done on my list was the buying flowers...that was because I just didn't see any that spoke to me...maybe tomorrow at the produce stand;)

day two...

had a whole blog post planned for today but I am home sick so :( I have just enough energy to post this layout...

details: 8.5 x 11- the kraft cardstock is not part of the layout. The clip sticks up off of the page so I put the cardstock behind it when I scanned it in.

page a day

so I feel like I cheated some this first day because I already had most of this layout done but that's one of my biggest issues...that i get about 80% of a layout done and then I set it aside. Yeah. So...with this layout a day challenge I'm hoping to *finish* up a bunch of layouts. I'm still being creative and getting stuff done off my desk but some just may be unfinished ones;) This layout was inspired/scraplifted from one of my favorite people in the world Erica Hernandez. Which was actually a member inbspiration from her garden seeds of another 2peas member. You can see the original and Erica's layout here.

Journaling reads:

My initial reaction was that you were too big to be carried like this. Too old to be picked up and given a piggy back ride. A 90 lb, 12 and a half year old pre-teen. One, who on a constant, almost daily basis tells us how independent she is and that she doesn’t need help from us or advice or to even be spoken to if she hasn’t given permission that day. Then I paused for a moment and thought wait a minute...and suddenly I remembered the SIGNIFICANCE of this moment. That the very next day, or week or even month from now you could ALSO decide that you were too big or too old and I wouldn’t have had this last moment to see you and Nate like this. And Nate wouldn’t have had this moment with you and in that instant I couldn’t think of anything sadder than the realization I almost stopped it..

So our New Year's eve plans changed and we had a pretty mellow night. We decided against the party only because we have always made it a practice to NOT drive on New Year's Eve. We've always celebrated by walking down (only 6 short blocks) to the main street in Monterey. Last night was no exception. We headed down to First Night  to check out some of the music and activities. We ran into Alex:) Ran into a few other friends we haven't seen in a while and pretty much spent a good portion of our night there catching up with them. Stayed up WAY too late watching movies and drinking champagne...all in all a fun evening although a pretty quiet one.

Hope your New Year's Eve was celebrated exactly how you wanted too;)

this was my entry in to LSS Round #2. Obviously I didn't make it on. Which was okay. I had joined only to try to push my self to be creative and it worked. I LOVE both of the layouts I created for that challenge. This layout is one of those that in real life looks 200% better than the scanned copy (I've mentioned the issues i have with my scanner before...) It's also one of my favorites because it is about me. I don't do pages about me. Even though Ali Edwards tells us it's a good thing to make pages and document our own life I just have never done it. I stepped out of my comfort zone on this one with doodling, and random rubbings and one small photo in a label. It was fun to make:) I also think that this is the first layout in almost two years I 've done with a photo of me...how sad is that?

Ironically random item #5 is no longer true. After 13 years of bananas ( their smell& taste) making me nauseous I have eaten one the last two mornings as if I never had a problem with them. The smell no longer bothers me and they taste good. Weird huh? Wonder what that's about?

LSS Volume 2, Round #1

Decided to try my hand at the LSS contest that the Dares are doing. I remember all the cool layouts I saw last year and decided to give it a try. The worst that could happen is that I create a new page. I haven't scrapped much in the past month or two so this was a good challenge for me. The first challenge was to use 8 clear/transparent items. This may not be hard for some people but for me it was VERY hard. I am a horder of scrapbooking supplies and for me to have to delve into my stash and use EIGHT items was almost more than I could handle..LOL. I was suprisingly happy with my layout though and it's one of the first double pages I've done in a LONG time...so I guess the panic on my part was worth it:)

Now we'll see if I get invited back for round #2;)
