One of the local radio stations here has a "Beach Lounge" series which features mini concerts by musicians and they are always free. On Wednesday this week we headed to The Ol'Factory (our favorite place!) for their first concert of the series. We were seeing Anna Nalick, you may know her song Breathe and her more current one Shine. We had such a good time. When we first got there it was going to be questionable though since all the tables in the coffee shop/bar/restaurant were reserved. Alex, her friend Emme and I were just settling into a table outside when the host/DJ came up to us. When she found out we were sitting outside due to a lack of tables she brought us into the VIP area, to the table in the front of the stage and that's where we got to watch Anna Nalick. It was totally cool. The girls were so excited. And the concert was good. It was only like 5 songs but I really like her voice and it was awesome that it was such a small venue. She even signed autographs afterwards despite not being over her cold/flu yet. She is also a crack up. I think she may be Alex's new role model...LOL. Alex really like the t-shirt Anna was wearing. So funny.
It was a great way to spend the night together, good food, really good beer and great music:) I'm looking forward to the other concerts this summer now;)

For lack of a better way to explain how I've been lately...been feeling disconnected recently. From lots of things. I have been reading your blogs but just not commenting. My life has been consisting of work, household responsibilites and working out. Not much time for anything else. Love surfing the web for inspirational layouts and am loving some of the previews of the new stuff for CHA but not feeling a need or want to be creative. Found out that my insurance does NOT cover infertility testing and so I've been taking a moment to pause and look at the bigger picture when just two lab tests cost more than I make in a week.  Haven't taken a picture in almost two weeks at this point. So yeah...that's where I'm at.

really...time just slips away from me

I swear...I was going to post on this more often this month but as usual...time just slipped away. I had a suprise party for my husband's birthday, a beer festival, an evening in San Francisco seeing Mike Doughty etc. Just a really busy time the past few weeks. Haven't even had time to respond to the one other Mike Doughty fan I know (Alison) about my prize for being annoying in her comments one evening so...anyway. been a good couple of weeks. I love this time of the year because I am always so busy and the weather is changing and Christmas is just around the corner:) Love the fall season!

My weekend in Arizona was postponed...just didn't work for the flights and work schedules but we are going out there in 3 weeks for a week long vacation. Hoping the weather is a little cooler. Hoping to finally meet Kerry. And see my friend Debra that I haven't seen in almost 12 years:) Very exciting!! I haven't been back to Arizona in almost 10 years so it's going to be an interesting experience for me. I also get to meet one of Nate's friend's from high school who lives in Gilbert now:) So I'm REALLY looking forward to this trip to Az.

And next weekend (9/30 & 10/1) I get the immense pleasure of meeting one of the coolest people I know Erica Hernandez. I am actually flying out to Michigan just to meet her. We've talked for almost 3 years online and I am SO excited to finally be meeting her in person!! It's a little ironic though because the first year we were talking and commenting on each others layouts she lived a mere 4 hours away in Fresno, CA then she moved ALL the way across the US and this is when we finally get around to meeting...silly isn't it:P

So...I am around but it's just been so busy. Looking forward to a little down time this weekend though:)

p.s. the photos are from the Mike Doughty show I went to in San Francisco on Sept 10th. Have I mentioned that he totally ROCKS! He is just amazing (IMO)!!! really awesome commraderie with the crowd and he and the keyboard guy, Kirby really have quite the act they put on up there on stage.

The White Stripes "Fell in Love with a Girl" to be exact. For those wondering...no, she cannot play a note. She wants to learn we just haven't done it yet. It's night's like this that make me seriously sad that Nate works so many evenings and is always missing these moments. Rarely does she put on shows like she did tonight:)

I'm so jealous that I have never been, nor will I ever be, as cool as my 11 year old daughter.
